FAQs

For a round rug, measure from one end to the other across the widest part of the rug with a tape measure. This will give you the diameter. Most round rugs are listed by how big they are, like 4 feet, 6 feet, or 8 feet. If you're going to put it under furniture, think about how much room you'll need, including how far chairs or other things stick out past the edge of the rug.

Putting a round Rug under a round table gives the room the best balance. It matches the shape of the table and makes a strong focus point. But in some styles, a square or even a big rectangular mat can work, as long as all the chairs can fit fully on the rug when they are pulled out.

In general, a round table with four chairs has a width of 36 to 48 inches. Choose an area rug that is at least 6 to 8 feet across so that chairs can slide back without catching on the edge. This gives the rug an extra 24 to 30 inches of room on all sides of the table, which is great for comfort and size.
