This ancient art of engravement on Nielloware has been a status symbol of royalty in many countries in Southeast Asia including Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia. The process of creating niello objects is a very labor-intensive and elaborate one.

Typically, precious metals such as gold, silver, or brass are incised to create meaning, often culturally, depictions or patterns on an object. Cambodian silversmiths are considered among the most skilled experts at chasing, repoussé, niello, enameling, and gilding such objects.

This Hand Engraved Solid Brass Mug with a Handle is a perfect decorative gift for a collector of world treasure. On the body of the mug, it features an elaborately engraved depiction of Ramayana Legends. Each piece requires complicated engraving by hand for months before birthing a highly detailed nielloware. It is such an exceptional example of Southeast Asian niello works, making it a perfect heirloom for your beloved family.
